Can a patient's AI assistant get in?
People are starting to ask AI assistants to look up lab results, compare drug prices and check what their insurer covers. This page tracks the public pages of 20 sites: 16 health systems, insurers, pharmacies and health services, plus 4 government health agencies. None of the 19 whose rules we could read blocks AI assistants. But 6 of the 20 turned our bot away or asked it to prove it was human: NIH, Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins Medicine, UnitedHealthcare, GoodRx, Zocdoc.
We track public pages only: portal landing pages, public policy pages and robots.txt. We never test logins and never accept reports containing health information. Health systems have legitimate security reasons to block automated access to portals; nothing here suggests otherwise.
